St. Joseph University (SJU), Nagaland and Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung, organised orientation programmes to welcome newly admitted students across departments.
At SJU, the event was organized on July 9, for first-year students of nine departments including Management, Economics, Commerce, Physical Education, History, English, Journalism and Mass Communication, Psychology and Counselling, Sociology and Social Work. The programme featured cultural performances, video presentations, and messages from the university leadership.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. D. Gnanadurai, in his presidential address, encouraged students to uphold academic integrity, focus on personal growth, and aim for excellence. Entrepreneur Tasangkala Imchem inspired students to be creative, accountable, and humble in their journey.
The programme also included orientation sessions on academics, discipline, and examination procedures led by senior faculty members. The event concluded with a benediction by Rev. Fr. Dr. Sunny, Department of Education.
In Mokokchung, Fazl Ali College hosted orientation for new BA, B.Sc., and B.Com students on July 8 at the college auditorium. Principal Dr. I. Wati Imchen welcomed the students and emphasized the college’s vision of becoming a centre for multidisciplinary studies and indigenous research.
A major milestone for the college was the launch of commerce stream, with 28 students joining the inaugural batch. FAC also announced a 50% admission fee reimbursement for the highest scorers in each stream—Arts, Science and Commerce.
Vice principal L.S. Vinod Kumar presented an overview of FYUGP under NEP 2020, while associate professor Talisenla explained the code of conduct. Librarian Dr. Lendina briefed students on using library facilities. The event was chaired by assistant professor, Limasenla Y. Jamir and attended by faculty members, students and parents.
