A two-day orientation workshop on Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) 2022 for the state of Nagaland commenced on January 13 at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare (DoH&FW) Kohima.
A press release by the National Health Mission (NMH) Nagaland stated that delivering a keynote address, mission director, NHM Nagaland, Dr. Ritu Thur said the main objective of the workshop was to sensitise and create awareness to improve the areas of concerns in the state health sector as per IPHS norms.
Thur said the orientation workshop would bring lots of benefits in service delivery for the state and also help the department improve the health indicators.
Addressing the participants, commissioner and secretary, DoHFW, Y.Kikhato Sema highlighted challenges faced by the health sector in Nagaland and requested all the officers present to propose for setting up health units only on need bases.
He also urged the officers to have a consultation sitting with the churches and community to work together and come into partnership in building up a community based health centres in those centres that were non-functional.
The resource persons for the workshop were, PHA, NHSRC, Prasanth K.S; NHSRC, NHSRC, Dr. Musarrat Siddiqui; NE-RRC, Dr. Surajit Chowdhary; additional commissioner and in-charge, nutrition division, MoHFW, Dr. Sila Deb; advisor, HRH, NHSRC, Mona Gupta; NHSRC, Dr. Poonam and advisor, PHA, NHSRC, Dr. Himanshu Bhushan.
The workshop comprises of offline and online mode covering topics on importance of IPHS 2022, understanding critical areas, support services, planning for IPHS and linkages with DHAP, Anemia Mukt Bharat, human resources for health, public health management cadre, challenges and pssible solutions for IPHS implementation.
