Over 1500 pigs die of ASF at Yongnyah village

NDPP Longleng region has claimed that more than 1500 pigs have died of African Swine Flu (ASF) and around 600 households been affected at Yongnyah village.


In a press statement, NDPP Longleng region working president, V. Longba Phom said that the virus has spread to nearby village. Longba said the virus has caused “hemorrhagic fever” leading to high mortality rates in domestic pigs and caused huge economic losses to the farmers whose livelihood was dependent on livestock, Longba.


In this connection, Longba suggested effective control measures like vaccination drive, seminars and awareness programme to educate farmers about the swine flu and train them about the prevention, mitigation, response and management to overcome such loses.
