Over 6,000 officials to be deployed for Census 2027 in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, JUN 1 (NPN): More than 6,000 government officials will be engaged in the conduct of Census 2027 in Nagaland, as the state gears up for one of its largest administrative exercises with the successful completion of training for 130 Field Trainers from all 17 districts.
According to DIPR, the Field Trainers underwent a three-day residential training programme conducted in four batches between May 20 and 29. The programme recorded 100% participation and was organised under the leadership of the deputy commissioners of Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kohima and Phek.
The trained Field Trainers will now impart training to Census Supervisors and Enumerators across Nagaland during June 2026, covering all 157 sub-divisions, municipalities and towns in the state.
Census 2027 will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, House-Listing Operations, will provide citizens with an opportunity to enumerate their households through an online self-enumeration facility from June 16 to 30, 2026. This will be followed by verification of the self-enumerated data and enumeration of households that are unable to complete the process online by Census Enumerators and Supervisors.
The second phase, Population Enumeration, is scheduled for February 2027, during which population data will be collected across the state. It said the extensive exercise would require coordinated efforts from thousands of personnel deployed across Nagaland to ensure accurate and comprehensive data collection.
The Directorate of Census Operations, Nagaland, has appealed to citizens to actively participate in the exercise and extend full cooperation to census officials for the successful conduct of Census 2027.
The census data is expected to play a crucial role in planning developmental programmes, allocation of resources and formulation of policies in the coming years.
Earlier, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio had urged citizens to actively participate in Census 2027, stating that accurate data collection was essential for fair representation and informed developmental planning in the State.
“As Nagaland joins the rest of India in preparing for the @CensusIndia2027, active public participation is essential to ensure accurate data, fair representation, & informed planning for our State’s dev. Let us support a Census that reflects our people & progress,” Rio had said in a post on X on May 29.
