Advisor of Tribal Affairs and Election, H. Tovihoto Ayemi, announced that around nine lakh people in Nagaland will benefit from the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan scheme. The scheme covers 608 villages across 70 blocks in the state.
Speaking at the state-level “Awareness & Benefit Saturation Camp”, held at Deputy Commissioner’s office complex in Kohima, Tovihoto emphasized the need for effective coordination among departments to ensure smooth implementation.
The camp was organized by department of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with the district administration.
Tovihoto informed that saturation camps began on June 15 and will continue for 15 days across all districts. He stated that the initiative follows the centrally launched scheme that started on October 2, 2024, and was officially rolled out nationwide on November 3, 2024, focusing on tribal development.
The Government of India has directed 19 departments to brief district officials for smooth execution. Referring to the 2011 Census, Tovihoto highlighted India’s tribal population of over 10.45 crore, stressing the need for inclusive development. He linked the initiative to the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, which aims to make India a developed nation.
A budget of nearly Rs. 80,000 crore has been allocated for the scheme, focusing on health, rural development, road connectivity, animal husbandry, and livelihoods. The approach promotes transparency and cooperation, while the Centre is committed to bridging gaps, including solar power for off-grid tribal areas and rural school infrastructure development.
Tovihoto praised Nagaland’s Chief Minister as “dynamic”, stating that the state government is actively working with the Centre for full implementation and realizing the goal of “Viksit Nagaland, Viksit Bharat.”
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem delivered the welcome address, followed by remarks from Joint Secretary of Tribal Affairs, L.T. Kiusumung Tikhir. A PowerPoint presentation on DAJGUA was delivered by the State Nodal Officer.
