Ozukum inspects Zunheboto road works

PWD minister, Tongpang Ozukum paid his maiden visited to Zunheboto on November 30.

According to DIPR, during his visit, the minister visited various developmental work sites around Zunheboto town. The places he visited were: Main Town road, Zunheboto Government College road, Alahuto road, Nito Mount road, New Colony road, Project West road, and District Hospital road.

Later the minister interacted with staff of PWD office Zunheboto, where he said that PWD was one of the most important departments.

Ozukum stated that the road sector is a priority of the PDA government. So far three crores have been sanctioned for Zunheboto, of which some works have been completed and some are still in progress. By next year the government will focus on all the districts of Nagaland together with Kohima and Dimapur, he stated. Ozukum said he will consider building a new Zunheboto PWD office building by putting it in his priority list. He also appealed to landowners of Zunheboto to cooperate with the government so that development may not be hampered.

The interaction session was chaired by SE, Hozheto Shikhu, where he requested the minister to construct the new Zunheboto PWD office building.

NDPP Zunheboto president, Khehoshe H Yeptho also spoke in the program. Since Mokokchung and Zunheboto districts are neighbours, Yeptho appealed to the minister to accord the same priority to Zunheboto as to Mokokchung.

EE, Tokavi Chishi also spoke in the interaction program where he said that development activities under the department were materializing in Zunheboto district.

Speaking to DPRO Zunheboto, the minister said that he was visiting all the districts and his Zunheboto visit was part of this tour.

He said that change will not come overnight but gradually it will indeed come. He opined that if the Zunheboto town public should organise a Pre-Christmas & Mass Social Work event, he will help in whatever way possible.

Later the minister visited Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto and interacted with the Church leaders. He congratulated the Sumi people for constructing “such a majestic Church building.” He also appealed to the Church leaders keep him in their prayers.

The minister was accompanied by SE, Hozheto Shikhu; EE, Tokavi Chishi; EE, Vikaho Zhimo; president NDPP Zunheboto, Khehoshe H Yeptho; and party workers.
