In commemoration of the World TB Day, the state health & family welfare (H&FW) minister, P. Paiwang Konyak, formally launched the “TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” 100-day campaign at the directorate of health & family welfare, Kohima on Tuesday.
In his brief address during flagging off the Ni-Kshay Vahaan for community outreach, the minister extended his best wishes to all health professionals for the successful implementation of the campaign.
In a press release, state TB officer (NTEP), Dr. Akum Jamir, informed that the 100-day campaign was aimed at accelerating the elimination of tuberculosis through intensified, targeted, and technology-driven interventions across the state.
Elaborating on the campaign’s key objectives. principal director H&FW, Dr. Mereninla Senlem, stressed the need to identify all missing TB cases through proactive screening of vulnerable populations and to reduce TB-related mortality by adopting a personalised and patient-centric approach.
Dr. Senlem said one of the on objectives of the campaign was to strengthen differentiated TB care along with adequate nutritional support to patients.
She also emphasised on preventing new infections by ensuring systematic screening and providing TB preventive treatment to high-risk groups.
The launching programme was attended by additional secretary H&FW, principal director H&FW, and other senior officials of the department.
The 100-day campaign is part of the national effort to achieve a TB-free India by intensifying detection, treatment, and prevention measures at the grassroots level.
