CBCC backs PAC: Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has announced support to for the their initiative to curb illegal collection of money by various groups.

In the spirit of upholding the biblical principles of honesty and accountability in the society, the council in a press release issued by its executive secretary Rev Khrotso Mero said its executive committee meeting held on October 16 and 17 had resolved to appreciate and extend support to the initiative of PAC for its efforts to contain the menace of illegal collection of tax.

Pointing out that it was a long-felt desire of Naga people to root out all kinds of illegal taxations imposed by various agencies, CBCC said PAC was formed at such a time with the participation of all concerned tribal hohos to contain multiple and rampant taxations.

And what the committee had done was a yeoman service rendered to the public following the failure of the State machinery to tackle the illegal taxations, for which the public had been suffering economically over the past many years, the council added. CBCC asserted that it was the bounden duty of every sensible citizen to rise to the occasion and extend every possible moral support to this movement spearheaded by PAC.  “We appeal all sections of the society, including Naga political groups, to sincerely co-operate and stand in solidarity with this public-based movement and do away this self-inflicted economic burden upon our society,” it emphasised.

CBCC also urged authorities concerned to stop all kinds of unauthorised and illegal taxations along the highways and ensure that all syndicate/lease systems imposed by certain groups were removed.

The Council further appealed to the government authority concerned to ensure and reactivate the proper functioning of price regulation committee in all districts of the State so as to save the public from undue economic burdens. It appealed to all believers to live their faith and put into practice the biblical values of honesty and integrity in all areas of life.
