DIMAPUR, SEP 16 (NPN): A consultative meeting between the Political Action Committee (PAC) of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, led by chief minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, and the NSCN (I-M) leaders were held at Rhododendron Hall, Police Complex, Chümoukedima, on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing Naga peace talks.
Speaking briefly to media persons after the meeting, Rio said the discussions focused on the reasons behind the delay in the peace process.
He said the meeting also discussed the proposed constitution of an apex committee for the negotiations. Rio informed that discussions on the formation of the committee were still underway and that talks would commence once it was finalised.
Asked about remarks made by former chief minister and governor Dr SC Jamir on the Naga issue during his recent meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in Delhi, Rio declined to comment, saying the Naga People’s Front (NPF) had already issued a statement on the matter.
