Pahalgam terror attack: Candlelight procession in Dimapur

A candlelight procession for the victims of terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahlgam was held at Hanuman Mandir near Pranab Vidyapith School Milan Mandir here on Thursday. On April 22, terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists and left many others injured.


The procession, organised by the Hindu Seva Samiti Dimapur, started from Hanuman Mandir railway colony and traversed through Kalibari road, GS Road, Supply Road, Westyard and culminated at Hanuman Mandir. Before the procession, a short programme was held, wherein various representatives from different communities including Muslim and Christian showed their solidity.


Hindu Seva Samiti Nagaland state president, Gopal Sharma, said that the radical Islamists, who killed innocent tourists posed a global threat. He said that every country must unite to fight the extremists, adding that killing innocents was against all religions. Shamra urged everyone to show solidarity with the victims.


Janjati Shiksha Samik Nagaland organising secretary Pankaj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the incident. Blaming Pakistan for unrest in Kashmir and called for unity and uphold traditional values. He also urged the youth to rebuild and strengthen Hindu organizations and values.


Muslim Council Dimapur youth wing president, Rasid Ahmed Talukdar condemned the terrorist attack. Stating that it was not about religion or caste, Talukdar terrorism has no faith.


He urged the government to take strict action and extended full support for unity and national security. All Nagaland Gorkha Student Union literature & statistical secretary, Anand Gurung, also expressed solidarity. He described the attack as a tragedy and urged everyone to stand in unity.


Hindu Seva Samiti Nagaland submitted a memorandum to the President of India through DC Dimapur demanding strict action against those perpetrators.
