Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation, Railways, and Land Resources, P. Paiwang Konyak Friday held a meeting with the district administration and police personnel at DC Conference hall, Mon to take stock of the prevailing situation in Mon district.
With lockdown extended till July 12, containment zones increased following three more frontline workers testing positive for COVID, deputy commissioner Thavaseelan K. informed the house that they were able to sort for more funds to procure additional rapid testing kits to test all primary and secondary contact persons within the specific containment zones.
In addition to the five wards, three more wards– Walo, Middle Wagiem and Chingai– have been sealed as rigorous exercise of containment zones were carried.
Meanwhile, vehicles for essential commodities will be allowed to ply only on Monday and Friday to bring goods from Assam to Mon.
No private vehicles and human commuters will be allowed to roam around during this total lockdown period.
It also informed that there will be home delivery of essential commodities during the lockdown period, for which Mon Town Student Union and ward volunteers were given full responsibilities to deliver essential commodities to the doorsteps.
