Following the disruption of vehicular movement due to recent sinking/damage in NH-702 (Mon-Namtola road), Health & Family Welfare minister P Paiwang Konyak on Tuesday inspected the site and urged the National Highways Department to maintain the alternate route via Mon village leading to Mon headquarters, besides restoring the damaged portion of NH-702 for light vehicular movements.
As emergency restoration had been processed by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and the NH-702 has been taken over, Paiwang insisted that the corporation should urgently take up the special maintenance of the Mon-Tizit national highway, including widening of road in the sinking area, considering the vulnerability of the soil for further damage that might occur due to incessant rains.
He also urged the citizens to bear with the inconveniences caused during the monsoon season, assuring that all efforts were being made to restore the road.
The minister was accompanied by a team of officials from National Highways, NHIDCL, district and police administration. This was stated in a press release.
