Nagaland State Legal Services Authority organized refresher training for panel lawyers from across the state on various schemes by nodal departments at directorate of State Institute of Rural Development Kohima on November 16.
Speaking during the second day of the three-day programme on poverty alleviation schemes for villages vis-à-vis village authority, Neibou Sekhose, joint director Rural Development informed that the planning at Rural Development department was bottom up approach as villages participated in the planning process. He said VDB was the development agency of the village which functioned under the village council, comprising of the general body composed representation of the whole village community.
Neibou Sekhose appraised that the department also covered 1238 VDBs, 74 blocks, 24,3265 household and 4.28 lakh job cards. He also spoke on programmes and various schemes.
Lanutoshi Jamir, deputy director department of Food and Civil Supply speaking on roles of legal services authority said that under National Food Security Act 2013 there were two categories of scheme Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Priority Household which entitled food grains of 5kg of rice per person per ration card at Rs. 3. He informed that the NFSA was covering 61.98% (5.74 lakh) population in urban area and 79.83% (14.04 lakh) population in rural area.
Lanutoshi pointed out that District Grievances Redressal officer and State Food Commission is grievance redressal mechanism.
Imtikumzuk, marketing executive Nagaland Postal Division spoke on schemes under postal department, Mezivolu T Theriah, chief judicial magistrate spoke on dos & don’ts for panel lawyers, P.P. Bunagohain, deputy manager State Bank of India spoke on types of loans available/eligibility for the marginalised and BPL, Khrolou KozaLohe, state training and capacity building officer Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority spoke on various programmes under NSDMA, Gwabinlo Seb and VikholieYiese, Kripa Foundation spoke on drug/substance abuse/mechanism for prevention, Ashu Theyo, Legal Aid counsel-cum-trainer NSLSA spoke on Human Rights and Akumla Longchari coordinator NSLSA on spoke on discussion on maintenance of reports/records on training/awareness programmes.
