Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur on Monday constituted a district-level committee to monitor the distribution of LPG and other petroleum products and to curb hoarding, black marketing, and overpricing.
According to DIPR, the order issued by DC Dr. Tinojongshi Chang stated that the committee has been formed to ensure strict enforcement of regulations and to prevent malpractices in the supply and distribution system.
The committee headed by ADC as convenor would include the deputy commissioner of police, district civil supplies officer, assistant controller of legal metrology, EAC (sadar), state level coordinator of IOCL, senior depot manager of IOCL Dimapur, and field officer of BPCL as members.
The committee and enforcement team would carry out coordinated inspections and check to prevent illegal storage, hoarding, black marketing, and overpricing of LPG.
The order warned that strict action would be taken against violators under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, and other relevant laws.
DC Dimapur issues circular on LPG distribution: Office of DC Dimapur also issued a circular on March 23, 2026 regulating the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders in the district, following instructions from the food and civil supplies department.
The circular stated that priority allocation would be given to essential sectors such as hospitals, educational institutions, hotels, restaurants, bakeries, dairies, and transport-related establishments. Distribution would be made strictly on request through DC’s office.
To prevent hoarding and ensure fair distribution, the monthly supply to each consumer would be based on the average consumption of the previous three months, as recorded by oil marketing companies.
Distributors have been directed to maintain date-wise records, and in case of delay, supply would be made on a first-come, first-served basis. It further instructed to submit daily distribution reports to the DC office.
