
Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom called on Sudan Preeti, secretary to MoHFW, New Delhi on January 14 to discuss several issues pertaining to the health sector of the state.
A press release issued by the minister’s office stated that Pangnyu specifically appealed the secretary to upgrade the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) to a 500 bedded hospital on priority as it was the only hospital that could support a Nagaland Medical College.
The duo also discussed the upgrade of district hospital Longleng and Zunheboto besides other issues that were submitted to the ministry and secretary during her state visit last year.
Earlier, the minister thanked the secretary for approving the setting up of a NCDC in Dimapur and Model Rural Health Research Centre (MRHRC) in Niuland, Dimapur.
Sudan said that she had monitored the performance of the department personally and promised to extend her support for improvement of the health sector in Nagaland.
Pangnyu was accompanied by minister of Soil, Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, Kashiho Sangtam and Dr. Hentok Phom.
