Pangnyu lays foundation for DHL

 Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Pangnyu Phom on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of District Hospital Longleng (DHL) at the new site. 

According to DIPR, the minister after laying the foundation stone, called upon the people of the district to continue to work together with unity and oneness for all-round development. 

The minister also appealed to the officials of H&FW for early completion of the DPR, pursue post creation of employees and other follow-up action for early functioning of the hospital with full facilities. 

He further appealed to the people to avail the opportunity provided by the government with responsibility including the Covid-19 vaccine to control and contain the spread of the virus which was still active affecting mankind around the world. 

Pangnyu also expressed gratitude to the District Task Force, Frontline Workers, government officers, the civil societies, PBCA and the Churches for their contribution and making the hospital as one of the most successful district hospital with CHC status during the pandemic year and added that Longleng was the lone hospital in the state with CHC status in the state during the covid-19 crisis.  

DC, Longleng M. Shayung Phom, who also spoke on the occasion, pointed out that Covid-19 pandemic was a blessing in disguise for Longleng district because lot of unexpected development took place for upliftment of the hospital during this period. He narrated how both Covid hospital and district hospital was functioning with the available resources and active contribution from various sources as health care facilities becomes priority to combat the virus. 

Director (Health) H&FW, Dr. Neikhrielie Khimiao in his short speech asserted that the department alone cannot develop the hospital without the active support and cooperation of the people. 

In this regard, the director called upon everyone to extend all helping hand with understanding and responsibility to uplift the hospital to greater height and cater best service to the people. 

While briefing on the overview of the project executive engineer, Medical Engineering Division Kohima, Er. Moanaro informed that 50- bedded hospital will be constructed at an estimate cost of Rs. 12. crores. She said that DPR is underway and would be completed soon however site development will go on side by side for speedy completion of the construction.

Later, the minister also inaugurated the upgradation of Yachem PHC to Community Health Centre.
