DIMAPUR: The Pangti Village GBs, Action Committee for PMGSY, and the general public have urged contractor M/S LPSS Infra, Kohima, to expedite the completion of the PMGSY Phase-III T-01 Mangmetong to Doyang road project and the replacement of damaged water supply pipelines for Pangti Village.
According to a resolution adopted during a general meeting convened by the village GBs and Action Committee on April 21, several concerns were raised regarding the slow pace of work and the hardships faced by the public.
The meeting resolved that formation cutting, culvert construction, retaining walls, breast walls, and side drain works should be carried out at a faster pace, stating that the slow progress has severely hampered vehicular movement, particularly during the rainy season.
It was also resolved that the quality of workmanship should strictly adhere to required standards and that the works would be monitored from time to time by the concerned bodies.
The meeting further highlighted that the water supply pipeline to Pangti Village was snapped on November 12, 2024, and immediate replacement of the damaged pipes is urgently needed. Due to the disruption, residents of the village have reportedly been forced to purchase drinking water at a cost exceeding Rs. 30,000 per day during the lean season from November to April.
In this regard, the Pangti Village GBs, PMGSY Action Committee, and the public have called upon the contractor to take necessary action on or before July 31, 2026. They further stated that failure to comply within the stipulated time would leave the public and village authorities unable to take responsibility for any consequences arising thereafter.
