The Phokhungri Area Public Organisation (PAPO) has expressed dissatisfaction over the quality of work in the construction of two-lane Akhegwo-Avakhung road in Package II by contractor KKB Rülho.
In a statement, PAPO president P Paratsu and general secretary Sihalu alleged that the quality of work in the construction of two-lane road under Package II was very slow and unsatisfactory, progressing at snail’s pace.
While work on Package I and Package III had so far been very satisfactory with the earth cutting being almost complete, and soiling and layering of chippings were done simultaneously with proper grading, they mentioned that black-topping had also started in some portions.
But, they mentioned that under Package II, large portion of the basic earth cutting still remained untouched, while soiling/laying of chippings was a far cry.
The organisation said the road had not been levelled/graded with grader after the earth-cutting and no road roller used, for which the road was bumpy, affecting smooth flow of traffic and creating inconveniences for the commuters as vehicles often broke down.
Though work should be at peak during this dry season, the duo said the contractor seemed to be waiting for the monsoon season to start the earth cutting. Further, dumping was done randomly and no loader was placed for clearance works in the sites, causing huge inconvenience for the commuters.
They claimed that the public of the area felt very unfortunate to have KKB Rülho as one of the contractors in the project because the quality and progress of the works were very unsatisfactory.
The PAPO leaders cautioned that Rülho should not take things for granted and test the patience of the public, but expedite the works immediately in full-swing, keeping in mind that the quality of work was not compromised in any manner and works executed as per the detailed project report (DPR).
They declared that the PAPO would not remain a mute spectator, but discharge its bounden duties by overseeing the progress and quality of work for the welfare and betterment of the public until the project was completed.
