Partial Reopening of Landslide-Hit NH-29 for LMVs and Emergency Vehicles

A key stretch of National Highway-29 near the old Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) dumping site, recently impacted by a landslide, has been partially reopened to light motor vehicles (LMVs) and medical emergency transport. The decision, announced by the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, is effective immediately and subject to strict regulations.
According to official directives, LMVs and emergency vehicles will be permitted to ply the affected route between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, provided weather conditions remain favorable. Authorities will maintain continuous monitoring to ensure public safety. The route will remain completely closed during nighttime hours.
The order strictly prohibits the movement of heavy vehicles, including goods carriers, water tankers, paramilitary transport, and inter-district vehicles, until further notice.
