Pastor assault: LH demands stringent punishment for accused

Lotha Hoho (LH) has strongly condemned the “brutal act of violence” meted out to a pastor at Naukhuti town on August 24, 2024 by one Akhekivi, cadre of NSCN (K) Khango. The group on August 25 terminated its accused cadre from active national service of the Naga army.

In a press release, LH vice chairman Mhathung Humtsoe and general secretary Tsupon Murry said that the “inhumane barbaric act and heinous crime” committed against innocent person without any valid reason would not be tolerated. LH demanded that the law enforcing agencies award befitting punishment to the perpetrator under the relevant sections of law.

The hoho has appealed to all the factions of the Naga national political groups to refrain from “such uncivilized inhumane manifestations” to the peaceful loving citizens of Nagaland and respect the human rights of every individual.

Further, the LH urged the law enforcing agency to leave no stone unturned to extract the facts of the incident. LH vehemently condemned the accused for attempt on pastor’s life by loading the pistol but misfired.

In this regard, the hoho urged the responsible authority to book the perpetrator under NSA. It urged the investigating agency to undertake investigation meticulously so no gaps were left for the acquittal.
Meanwhile, LH has reminded all factions that in the event of such occurrences against any Lotha individual in the future, the Lotha Naga tribe would “immediately cease cooperation to all such organization/s.”
