DIMAPUR: Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) celebrated its 4th Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2026 at Bundrock Chapel Auditorium on Tuesday, with graduates urged to uphold integrity, pursue lifelong learning and embrace the future with resilience and purpose.
The ceremony began with the academic procession, followed by an invocation offered by College Chaplain Rev. Dr. Vichukho Ngukha. Principal Dr. Thepfuvilie Pierii welcomed the gathering, which included founder Rev. Dr. T.A. Shishak, governing body members, faculty, staff, parents, guardians and students. Congratulating the graduating class, he acknowledged the support of families and educators whose guidance enabled students to reach this milestone. A special musical presentation by MSSM.
Speaking on behalf of the postgraduate graduates, Pekivi K. Kiho expressed gratitude to the institution and supporters, remarking that “it is not about giving a perfect speech but speaking from the heart.” Representing the undergraduate graduates, Kangpila Anar reflected that Patkai had been more than an academic institution, describing it as a place of self discovery, friendships and growth into responsible individuals.
Delivering the commencement address, Dr. Kevezai Tureng, director of the College Development Council, Nagaland University, and an alumnus of Patkai, highlighted the institution’s pioneering contribution to higher education in Nagaland. He noted that Patkai was among the first colleges in the state to attain autonomous status under UGC, a testament to its commitment to academic excellence. Encouraging graduates to live by the college motto “Light and Truth,” he stressed that genuine success is measured not merely by academic qualifications but by character, honesty and integrity. He urged them to combine faith with action, remain open to diverse career opportunities beyond conventional government employment and cultivate continuous learning.
Addressing the growing influence of artificial intelligence, Dr. Tureng advised graduates to use AI responsibly as a tool for learning, innovation and problem solving without becoming overly dependent. “Use artificial intelligence to help you think, but do not allow it to do all your thinking for you,” he said.
The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of the Dr. Satuo Sekhose Memorial Academic Excellence Award, conferred on Shangyaola Jajo for outstanding achievement. Gold medals and degree certificates were awarded to meritorious graduates across disciplines, including BA, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Mus, MA and M.Sc programmes.
The graduates later took the pledge and were formally inducted into the Alumni Association of Patkai Christian College. The ceremony concluded with a prayer of dedication, benediction and academic recessional, marking the successful completion of another graduating class.
