Patkai Christian College marks 51st Foundation Day

DIMAPUR

Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) commemorated its 51st Foundation Day at the Bunrock Chapel Auditorium on August 28 with a solemn and celebratory gathering of faculty, students, alumni, board members and invited guests. The event paid tribute to the college’s founding vision and reaffirmed its commitment to holistic education.
The programme commenced with an invocation by founder and Principal Emeritus of PCC (A), Rev. Dr Tuisem A. Shishak. In his welcome address, principal Dr. Thepfuvivlie Pierü reflected on the sacrifices made by Rev. Dr. Shishak and his late wife, Margaret Shishak, in establishing the institution. He also acknowledged the generosity of the donor villages, Chümoukedima and Seithekema, which had contributed 1,000 acres of land free of cost for the cause of education.
Dr. Pierü assured that the college would continue to uphold its mission of providing quality education at affordable fees, fostering human values and nurturing the holistic development of students. He extended a warm welcome to the Foundation Day speaker, general secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) and chairman of the Board of Trustees, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, along with other dignitaries and community leaders.
Alumna Ajungla Hesso, from the 1994 batch, shared heartfelt memories of her time at Patkai, describing it as a transformative period in her life. She credited the college for shaping her confidence and spirit, and fondly remembered the late Margaret Shishak for her leadership and compassion.
In keeping with Angami tradition, the college presented one rooster and one kilogram of salt to the donor villages in recognition of their foundational contribution. The board of trustees expressed deep gratitude, stating that the vision of the college would not have been possible without their support.
Delivering the keynote address, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener anchored his message on Hebrews 13:7, urging the community to remember and emulate the legacy of the pioneers.
He highlighted the college’s achievements over five decades, including its inclusion among the top 150 colleges in India under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024. He reaffirmed NBCC’s continued support for the college’s mission and ministry.
The event also featured a musical performance by students of the Margaret Shishak School of Music (MSSM), scripture readings by faculty members Akangsenla and Mhao Patton, and a closing prayer by chaplain of PCC, Rev. Dr. Vichükho Ngulha.
