Former Home minister, Y. Patton, who was recently dropped along with five other ministers from the T.R Zeliang-led DAN ministry, has appealed to the chief minister to induct at least one legislator from Wokha district in his cabinet.
In a letter to Zeliang on Tuesday, Patton regretted that sudden political developments in the State had led to sacking of so many Ministers.
Y. Patton said that, while doing so, sentiments of Lotha tribe of Wokha district was deeply hurt as no cabinet minister representing the district had been inducted in the ministry in spite of being a major tribe of Nagaland.
Patton appealed to Zeliang on behalf of the Lotha community and “in the interest of equal and balance representation in the government” to consider inducting at least one Cabinet minister from Wokha district in the latter’s ministry from amongst the remaining two MLAs “even as myself and Mmhonlumo Kikon have been dropped”.
