Nagaland home minister, Y. Patton has condoled the passing away of late Takatula, mother of Dr. SC Jamir, Governor of Odisha and former Nagaland chief minister; SI Jamir, adviser, Urban Development; and grandmother of C Apok Jamir, parliamentary secretary of Tourism, on March 12 in Dimapur.
While conveying condolences to the bereaved family members, Patton said late Takatula (103) who left behind four sons, three daughters, 31 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren was predeceased by her husband Senayangba in 1988. Home minister said she was blessed with sons and daughters who have served in various capacities in the State and the Country including Dr SC Jamir, SI Jamir, and her grandson C Apok Jamir.
The home minister also described late Takatula as a God-fearing person and remained humbled which itself was a message to all. In her death, the Aos have lost a true mother in particular and the Nagas in general and the void created by her death will be difficult to fill, said Patton. Further, Patton prayed to the Almighty to grant solace and grant to the bereaved family at this hour of grief and peace to the departed soul.
