Patton conducts inspections in Wokha

DIMAPUR

Nagaland deputy chief minister, Y. Patton, on Wednesday carried out surprise inspections of government offices in Wokha to review staff attendance and workplace discipline.
According to a DIPR report, the inspection began at the Department of Transport, where only six out of 20 staff were found present. Fourteen employees were absent without prior leave, prompting immediate salary deductions and directions to forward their names to the Deputy Commissioner for necessary action.
Patton also cross-checked whether those marked present were actually in their workstations. Staff found absent despite being marked present were treated as defaulters, and salary deductions were ordered accordingly.
At the Department of Agriculture, nine out of 47 staff were absent, while eight out of 31 were missing at the Water Resources Department. Similar disciplinary measures were enforced.
The deputy chief minister reiterated the importance of punctuality, proper leave procedures, and regular attendance as basic responsibilities of public servants. He cautioned that more surprise inspections will be conducted in the coming months to ensure strict compliance.
During his visits, Patton also interacted with departmental officials to hear their operational concerns and assured that genuine grievances would be addressed through appropriate follow-up.
