As part of the ongoing drive to ensure accountability and discipline within government offices, the deputy chief minister Y. Patton conducted a surprise inspection at the Civil Secretariat here on Thursday.

The deputy chief minister, who also holds home portfolio, was accompanied by home commissioner Vyasan R, additional director general of police (ADGP) Renjamo Kikon, special secretary Limasunep Jamir, home secretary Orenthung Lotha, and other senior officials.

The departments inspected included Personnel & Administrative Reforms, Social Welfare, Evaluation, Economics, and Planning offices. The primary objective of the visit was to assess the efficiency of administrative functioning, address absenteeism, and reinforce a culture of discipline among government employees.

Commenting on the initiative, Patton stressed the need for a responsive and responsible administration. He said that such inspections would be conducted periodically to ensure smooth governance. Patton reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing firm and consistent measures to enhance the work culture within state departments.

Officials accompanying the deputy chief minister took note of various issues, including irregular attendance and procedural inefficiencies, which would be addressed through necessary administrative interventions.

The surprise inspections were expected to continue as part of the broader efforts to streamline government operations and improve public service delivery in Nagaland.
