Continuing his initiative to promote discipline and accountability in public service, deputy chief minister (Home), Y. Patton, conducted surprise inspections at several government offices in Wokha on August 8 to assess staff attendance.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar; Superintendent of Police Wokha, Relo Aye; Lotha Hoho team led by chairman Mhondamo Ovung; and officials from the Lotha Students’ Union led by vice president Rhonbemo P. Ezung.
During the inspection at the District Education Office, the following attendance was recorded: in the Senior SDEO Office, three out of 15 staff were absent; in the DEO Office, one out of 17 was absent; and in the Samagra Shiksha Office, three out of 11 staff were absent.
At the Office of the District Civil Supply Officer, five out of 15 staff were found absent. In the SP Office, two out of 45 staff were absent.
Patton appreciated the offices maintaining near-full attendance and commended their dedication to public service. He also directed that necessary action be initiated against those absent without valid justification.
Patton reiterated that government employees must be present to serve the public and affirmed that such surprise inspections would continue until discipline and accountability are instilled across all departments.
