Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton on Tuesday inaugurated Yimpang Platoon Post 7th NAP Bn. and Zujum village under Bhandari sub-division.
The event was also attended by MLA of 40 Bhandari A/C and chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon. Unveiling the inaugural plaque of the Yimpang Platoon Post, also known as “Ethung Post,” Patton said the post was operational until 1970 but had been abandoned due to certain factors. He said the restoration was aimed to not only maintain territorial protection but to curb illegal activities, provide security, and ensure law and order in the border areas.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the Platoon Post’s geographical location, Patton urged the concerned department to deploy personnel in full strength and ensured that individuals prone to indiscipline or engaging in substance abuse were not deployed. The plaque was dedicated by pastor of PBC, 7th NAP Bn. Rev. K. Renphamo Odyuo
Achumbemo Kikon, expressed gratitude to Y. Patton for his concern and support in reviving the Platoon Post. He appealed to officers, Platoon personnel, and the public to cooperate for smooth and efficient functioning.
IGP (R) Limasunep Jamir highlighted the importance of understanding the location for effective area domination, patrolling, and border guarding.
The villagers of Yimpang requested Patton to establish more Police Out Posts for the welfare of the people. They also appealed for a well-constructed all-weather Foothill road, considering its vital role in the changing times.
Meanwhile, Y. Patton and Kikon inaugurated Zujum Village under Bhandari sub-division. Patton urged villagers to make responsible use of traditional lands, emphasizing the importance of retaining ownership for collective growth and development.
Dedicatory prayer was said by Rev. K. Renphamo Odyuo. Special number was presented by Hav. Etongbemo Kithan 7th NAP Bn.
