Deputy chief minister Y. Patton on Friday undertook a series of official engagements in Wokha district, combining administrative oversight with public outreach under the ongoing “#GSTBachatUtsav” campaign.
Patton began the day with surprise inspections of four government offices—the Horticulture Office, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), District Planning & Machinery Office, and Land Resources Office—accompanied by DC Wokha Vineet Kumar, SP Relo Aye, and representatives of Lotha Hoho and Lotha Students’ Union.
During the inspection, twelve staff members were found absent, prompting the Deputy CM to call for stricter discipline and improved accountability.
As part of the GST awareness drive, Patton toured shops in Wokha town, interacted with traders, and distributed information on the benefits of the GST, which he said has simplified taxation, enhanced transparency, and made business more affordable. He also visited Wokha Town Council office to discuss civic and developmental issues, and later met community leaders at the Lotha Hoho building, where he reviewed progress on the proposed Lotha heritage museum.
Meanwhile, BJP Wokha district held a press conference to highlight the newly introduced next generation GST reforms. District president Rhanbemo Odyuo stated that the reforms have led to price reductions on several products and provided relief to businesses and consumers.
