The BJP 37 Tyui Mandal organized the Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan Vidhansabha Sammelan at the BJP Office Wokha on October 21, with deputy chief minister and BLP leader Y. Patton as the keynote speaker.
Addressing the gathering, Patton expressed gratitude to Karyakartas from various Mandals for their participation and reaffirmed the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a self-reliant India. He cited successful initiatives such as the One District One Product (ODOP) program in Uttar Pradesh and the upcoming Banana Festival in Wokha as examples of local enterprise driving national growth.
Patton emphasized that by 2047, India should achieve full self-reliance, with special focus on the development of North East India.
He highlighted policy reforms including the introduction of GST in 2017 and ongoing efforts to improve its framework.
He noted growing support for the BJP’s initiatives from business communities and religious leaders, mentioning that even the Pope had extended birthday wishes to PM Modi.
He urged citizens to commit to hard work, innovation, and collective progress in line with PM Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.”
On the political front, Patton welcomed the Chief Minister’s decision to rejoin the NPF Party, stating that multiple regional parties in a small state like Nagaland may not be viable.
The BJP Wokha Unit extended full support to the merger of NDPP with NPF, expressing hope that it would foster unity and drive development across the state.
The programme was chaired by Chumben Enny, general secretary of 37 Tyui Mandal, with a welcome address by Mandal president Ekonthung Kikon and vote of thanks by general secretary BJPMM 37 Mandal, Mhalo Ngullie.
Karyakartas from 37th, 38th, 39th, and 40th Mandals, BJP ex-candidate Renbonthung Ezung, and BJP Councilors from WTC attended the event. Nongothung Kikon, Convenor for Atmanirbhar and BJP Wokha Vice President, led the gathering in taking the Atmanirbhar Bharat Swadeshi Pledge.
