The Poumai Baptist Church (PBC), Chümoukedima organized a four-day youth camp under the theme, “Breakthrough”, aimed at spiritually empowering young people to overcome life’s challenges through faith in God. The camp was held from August 14 to 17 at the Refuge Retreat Centre, Murise Village, Chümoukedima.
The event featured a series of impactful sessions led by Professor at Eastern Theological College, Jorhat and Convener of Peace Riders India, Rev. Dr. Woba James, along with Pastor of Poumai Baptist Church, Chümoukedima, Dr. Rev. P. James. The speakers addressed key topics such as “Sins and its Consequences,” “Breaking Through Fear and Insecurity,” “End Times (Eschatology),” “Breaking Through into Purpose,” and “Breaking Through Spiritual Stagnation.”
In addition to the main speakers, H. Alpha Pou and R. Thaizii Duo shared personal testimonies, recounting their journeys of overcoming adversity and finding purpose through faith.
The 131 campers were divided into five groups and engaged in a variety of activities including ice-breaking sessions, praise and worship and indoor and outdoor games. These activities fostered camaraderie and strengthened bonds among the participants.
A deeply moving moment during the camp was the foot-washing ceremony conducted by church leaders, symbolizing humility and service. Many youths were visibly touched by the gesture, with several moved to tears.
Throughout the camp, participants reported experiencing personal breakthroughs, committing to spiritual renewal and a deeper relationship with God. The camp concluded on August 17 with the youth leading the general church service, showcasing their learnings through worship and sharing.
