Three-day, quasquicentennial celebration of Pyangsa Baptist Church (PBC) under Wokha district commenced on January 2, 2024 at Pyangsa village. On January 3, the jubilee monolith was dedicated by, executive secretary, Lotha Baptist Church Association, Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha and the theme of the jubilee was opened with a prayer by pastor Lakhuti Baptist Church, Rev. Ezanbemo Odyuo. The speaker in the evening service was senior associate pastor, Dr. Yanbemo Lotha.
Delivering his sermon on the topic, “God the provider” Philippines 4:19, Dr. Yanbemo recalled Chichamo Ovung, who first brought Christianity in Pyangsa village. Dr. Yanbemo said Chichamo was baptized by Rev. W.F. Dodd at Impur in 1899 and emphasized on his life. He also recalled the ministry of Chichamo and the good news spread by him in many Lotha villages. Dr. Yanbemo said through his sacrificial services, the Pyangsa village has been blessed in many ways. The village has now 17 full time church workers in different churches across the state.
Greetings message on behalf of the advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan was also read out at the service. On January 4, Home Evangelist Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur, Rev. R.P. Murry will address the congregation and the service will be led by pastor, Lio-Longchum, Lipenthung Ovung. The evening service will be associate pastor, Longtsung Baptist Church, Zubenthung Ovung and the sermon will be delivered by pastor Yikhum Baptist Church, R. Zanbemo Kithan and jubilee greetings will be delivered by pastor Phenshunyu Church, Rev. Isac Kessen.
