The Project-Based Learning (PBL) Fair 2025 was held on Friday at the Agri Expo site in Chumoukedima, highlighting Nagaland’s continuing efforts to strengthen project-based learning and micro-level improvement in education across the state. The event was graced by advisor School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, as the honoured guest.
Organized by the Department of School Education and Samagra Shiksha, the fair brought together students, teachers, district and state officials, and education partners from across Nagaland to celebrate creativity, collaboration and innovation in learning.
The event began with a welcome address by DEO & DPC District Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha Dimapur, Jevika Kiba. The programme featured an exhibition walkthrough and evaluation, where officials, jurors, and guests interacted with students and teachers, assessing a wide range of innovative projects. The fair also included skits and cultural performances by students, reflecting Nagaland’s diverse traditions and artistic talents.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome commended the efforts of the Department and its partner organizations — Shiksha Lokam, Education Above All, Mantra for Change, Samagra Shiksha, and CART — for their continued collaboration.
He praised the creativity and storytelling skills demonstrated by students, noting that many projects reflected local experiences such as jhum cultivation, terrace farming and community life. “These stories help build empathy, kindness and care — essential values that must be part of our learning process,” he said.
Dr. Yhome urged partner organizations to expand their initiatives across all schools in Nagaland. “Our state is small, but our potential is immense. Let us upscale this model so every school benefits from project-based learning,” he added.
He further emphasized the integration of 21st-century skills into classrooms, including financial literacy, language proficiency, and creative thinking. As part of the event, ‘Micro Miracles 2.0’ was launched by Joint Mission Director, Dr. Bijano Murry Odyuo, and Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Kelhika Kenye. The initiative aims to further strengthen micro-improvement practices in schools and promote teacher-led innovation.
A panel discussion featuring teachers and students explored how PBL has transformed classroom learning, enhanced creativity and improved student engagement. The event concluded with the recognition of outstanding projects, schools and teachers, followed by a certificate distribution ceremony.
