Purana Bazar Tribal Council East (PBTCE) has cautioned that apart from the stalls allotted at Purana Bazaar daily market, no vendors will be allowed to sell chicken and fish openly in the street. This was decided at the meeting held on September 23.
In a press release, chairman PBTCE Tohoshe Awomi informed that the council decided to strictly banned the sale of chicken and fish openly within the jurisdiction of East Dimapur covering 7 wards, as the vendors were dirtying the locality. The council has also decided to allow the sale of pork and beef strictly in butcher shop only.
In this regard, PBTCE decided to implement the said order with effect from October 1, and will carry out eviction of all street vendors in the restricted areas.
The meeting also resolved not to allow the shop keeper to place their goods on the foot path of the shop since it invade the free passage of the commuters and parking space of the shoppers. The council cautioned that goods of the violators will be seized.
The council has also restricted selling of fish door to door, and decided to impose blanket ban. It therefore urged upon those interested in doing business to occupy stall in the Purana bazaar daily market.
At the meeting, PBTCE also deliberated on the pertinent issue of drainage system within the seven wards of Purana Bazar and resolved to address the issue with outmost importance.
In this regard, the council informed that the proposal have been forwarded to the administrator of East Dimapur Town Council and resolved to construct proper drainage on a serial basis giving due importance to all the wards. It further deliberated on the issue of clogged drainage located near H Apartments Jorapukhuri Colony to Romesh Chandra Mech residence to ISBT Junction Petrol Pump to Hotel Alyvn to Flour Mill.
