
Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G) Wokha observed the “International day of peace” at Libemo Memorial School Campus, Wokha under the theme “recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world” with SDO (Civil) Chonpentung Ezung as the special guest.
In a press release, press & media secretary BS&G Wokha, Thunglamo Odyuo informed that while speaking at the programme, Chonpentung said that the world had turned upside down due to the pandemic and that the people had come to adopt to new ways of life.
Addressing the students, he said that they would play a role by bridging the gap on the context of social life and religious matter in the district in particular and the state in general.
He advised them to bring mutual understanding, to give a chance to negotiation with positivity and to maintain the level of tolerance.
On climate change he said that playing a small role would bring change.
He said that at Mount Tiyi the plantation level was going down and destruction level was going up. In this regard, he encouraged all to plant a trees and preserve the forest.
The programme was chaired by Guide Captain of LMS Nchemongi, principal LMS Surojit Mitra delivered welcome address, Wondangbeni Kikon of class 12 presented a song and vote of thanks was proposed by ADO (scout), BS&G, Wokha, T. Zuchanthung Lotha.
Peace Channel: Peace Channel celebrated the 14th Peace Knit Fest –cum- Peace Channel Foundation Day in collaboration with North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) and North East Diocesan Social Service Society (NEDSSS) at DBIDL Hall, Dimapur on September 21.
During the programme, Rev. Fr. Rev. Fr. O. C Abraham was conferred the Peace Channel’s Peace Award 2021 for his contributions in creating sustainable livelihood, uplifting the less economically favoured sections of the people and in making differences in the lives of the children and families in Nagaland.
Speaking at the programme as guest of honour, Naga Council Dimapur, president, Estungmomo Kikon appreciated the organisation its initiative on imparting sustainable peace among the children, youth and adults in different communities across the state.
He also called on the gathering to be a part of the global movement by promoting peace and harmony in their homes and communities.
Meanwhile, special guest, deputy commissioner of police Zone II, Dimapur, Munesh stressed upon positive and negative impact of peace and elaborated how to attain peace for coexistence in the society.
While delivering the welcome note, director peace channel and principal NEISSR, Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto urged the congregation to celebrate the day by devoting oneself by strengthening the ideals of peace.
He invited the participants to join the efforts in the international day of peace as they focus on recovering better for a more equitable and peaceful world by spreading compassion, kindness and hope in these conflicting times.
A panel discussion on religious perspectives on “Role of Religious Organizations in Promoting Peace and Harmony” was moderated by Director of Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Dimapur, Fr. Chacko Karinthayil.
Rev. Moses Murry, Convenor of Christian Forum, Mr. Ajay Sethi, Coordinator and member of Peace Forum and Jain Samaj, Dimapur; Mr. Alok Pareek, member Hindu Samaj, Dimapur; and Mr. Ahidur Rehman, working President of Muslim Council and Former Peace Awardee, Dimapur also shared their perspectives on “the role of religious organisations in promoting peace and harmony”.
