PCC (A) observes cultural day

The two-day annual cultural day of Patkai Christian College (autonomous) kicked off on Friday at Bundrock chapel hall, Patkai.
The event was organized by Student Union Patkai Christian College (SUPCC) and Post Graduate Students Welfare Committee (PGSWC).
Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and NPF secretary general, who graced the event as guest of honour spoke on the importance of preserving and promoting the culture and tradition.
Culture and tradition should be cherished, preserve, promote, strengthen and carry on with certain modification, if needed with the change of time, Kikon said.
He encouraged the students to give outmost priority in preserving and safeguarding the tradition and culture.
He also encouraged the student’s community to inculcate the habit of reading books, to gain full knowledge and make an assets and not a liability.
Earlier, delivering welcome address PCC principal, Dr Thepfüvilie Pierü mentioned how the college encouraged the students and faculty to actively involve not only in preservation but also promotion of rich vibrant culture and traditions of all different tribes and communities.
At the programme opening prayer was offered by Rev. Dr Vichukho Ngukha and greetings was delivered by SUPCC literary and cultural secretary Kewilungbo.
Highlights of the event included ethnic fashion show, folk dance competition and folk drama competition.
Later, vote of thanks was delivered by PGSWC literary and cultural secretary Kenyuyhunle Thong and closing prayer by PCC EU president Avila Nyuwi.
