Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) celebrated 25 years of imparting science education on Saturday at Bundrock Chapel PCC with director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Jharnapani, Dr. Abhijit Mitra as chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, Dr. Mitra congratulated the college on the occasion and remarked that incorporating science education in a liberal Arts college like PCC was highly commendable.
He urged the students to inculcate three Ps in life–purity, patience, and perseverance so as to achieve success in life.
Appraising the gathering on various activities of ICAR-NRC, Dr. Mitra lamented that was little cooperation from the state departments.
He also pointed out that instances of mithuns straying into cultivated areas were due to rampant deforestation and logging in the state adding human activities have encroached the habitat of mithuns.
While highlighting the economic and environmental benefits of mithun rearing, Dr. Mitra also expressed desire to enter into a partnership with PCC in this regard.
During the programme, alumna Zuthunglo Patton IFS and alumnus major Kharsing Kaping spoke on behalf of the alumni. Former faculty members also spoke at the function.
Principal emeritus PCC, Rev. Dr. T.A. Shishak exhorted the students and also released the souvenir. Principal PCC, Hüsazü Epao handed over awards to students.
The programme also saw special song by B.Sc III students and a vibrant cultural presentation by B.Sc II students.
Earlier, vice principal PCC, Dr. Jyoti G Roy, rendered invocation prayer, dean of sciences, Angel Sonari, welcomed the congregation and the programme culminated with benediction by Chaplin, Rev. Vichükho Neikha. The programme was chaired by Avono Savino.
