Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) marked a historic milestone on Monday as it inaugurated the 50th Annual Sports Week, a tradition that has fostered athletic excellence and community spirit for five decades.
The opening ceremony, held at the college grounds, was graced by the founder and Principal Emeritus, Rev. Dr. Tuisem A. Shishak, who symbolically kicked off the ball to launch the festivities.
This year’s theme, “Confluence: Art & Athletics”, highlights the integration of cultural heritage with modern sporting activities.
In his address, Rev. Shishak emphasized the importance of nurturing the spirit, mind and body for holistic development. He encouraged students to balance academics, faith and physical well-being, while also preserving traditional games and cultural practices.
The ceremony featured a torch lighting, oath-taking and a vibrant march past, setting the tone for a week of spirited competition among students, faculty and alumni.
