Patkai Christian College (PCC) celebrated its 50th Edition Golden Jubilee Freshers’ Social on August 22 at the Bundrock Chapel Auditorium under the theme “Prologue – Bloom into Being,” welcoming its newest students into the Patkai family.
The highlight of the day-long celebration was the crowning of Mr. Patkai 2026 Chithuyuo Khrasi (Contestant No. 8) and Miss Patkai 2026 Thejaseno Thomas (Contestant No. 5).
In the other titles, Amunoto Assumi (Contestant No. 18) was adjudged 1st Runner-Up in Mr. Patkai, while Lunlalmon Neishiel (Contestant No. 2) won Mr. Ramp Walk and Maden (Contestant No. 16) was named Mr. Congeniality.
In the Miss Patkai category, Lalfamkimi (Contestant No. 19) was named 1st Runner-Up, while Veitenei Angam (Contestant No. 1) won Miss Ramp Walk and Nahpon Konyak (Contestant No. 9) was adjudged Miss Congeniality.
A total of 24 contestants participated in the Mr. and Miss Patkai competition. The judging panel comprised Nikali K. Shohe, Femina Miss India Nagaland 2026, Miss Northeast 2026 1st Runner-Up and Miss Nagaland 2024 1st Runner-Up; Temsu Sanglir, Mr. India Universe 2025 4th Runner-Up, Mr. Fashion Icon MIU 2025 and Mr. Dimapur 2024; and Anon Wangshu, Miss Universe Nagaland 2025 1st Runner-Up, Miss Kohima 2024 1st Runner-Up and Miss Nagaland 2024.
Guest Speaker Director General of Police, Nagaland, Rupin Sharma spoke to the freshers about the importance of education, exposure and interaction. Drawing from his career journey and early association with Nagaland, including his first posting in Dimapur, he encouraged students to move beyond their comfort zones and engage with people from different communities and backgrounds.
He stressed that interaction and openness were essential to broadening perspectives and building progressive societies. He also encouraged students to express their views freely and participate in open dialogue, while urging teachers to create an environment where students could speak without hesitation.
Addressing the pressures faced by young people, including parental expectations, competition, changing values and wider social influences, Sharma called upon students to maintain a healthy balance while remaining receptive to new ideas and perspectives. He encouraged them to build meaningful friendships, explore new experiences and develop into responsible citizens.
The Presidential Address by the President of PCC and member of the SUPCC reflected on the institution’s five-decade journey, the challenges and perseverance involved in building the college, and its contribution to producing musicians, engineers, entrepreneurs, officers and professionals in diverse fields. The address also acknowledged the vision and contribution of Principal Emeritus Dr. Rev. Shishak to the institution’s enduring legacy.
The General Secretary of the SUPCC subsequently delivered a presentation, followed by the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the Chief Guest, special guests, judges and sponsors by the Vice Principal.
The programme was compered by Larho and Sentijungla welcoming the Guest Speaker, Founder Principal Emeritus Dr. Rev. Shishak, judges, freshers and the audience. This was followed by the introduction of guests and judges and the college anthem led by the MSSM.
Founder Principal Emeritus Dr. Rev. Shishak led the opening prayer for the new students, while Vice Principal Dr. Renchumi Kikon Kuotsu delivered the welcome address on behalf of PCC Principal Dr. Thepfuvilie Peru.
The first session also featured a special performance by the MSSM and a speech on behalf of the freshers by Kezevinuo Seyie of the Department of Commerce, who expressed gratitude to the seniors for organising the event and warmly welcoming the new students.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Literary and Cultural Secretary of the SUPCC, Rukuzo D. Vadeo followed by a closing prayer led by Chaplain of PCC Rev. Dr. Vichükho Ngukha.
The second session was hosted by Niboto and Viuni Achumi. It featured performances by the PCC Dance Club and guest artist Moko Koza, along with the formal rounds of the Mr. and Miss Patkai competition accompanied by live performances from Moati and Lungbaanlu Khumba.
Following the selection of the Top 10 finalists, the contestants faced the question-and-answer round. While the judges deliberated on the final results, the audience was entertained by a performance from Zonisen and a band performance by The Ephemerals.
The crowning of Chithuyuo Khrasi and Thejaseno Thomas marked the high point of the Golden Jubilee celebration.
The event concluded with a closing prayer led by Yoto, President of the EU.
