PCM faculty presents paper at Tokyo conference

DIMAPUR: Dr. Obendangla, assistant professor of history at People’s College, Mokokchung (PCM), presented her research paper titled “Peripheral Slaveries and Global Abolition: Locating the Naga Hills in Indian Ocean Histories” at the Asian Conference on Social Sciences (ACSS) 2026 held in Tokyo, Japan, from May 9 to 13.
The international conference, organised by the International Academic Forum (IAFOR), was attended by over 670 delegates from 70 countries. Dr. Obendangla’s presentation was well received and generated engaging discussions.
In a statement, People’s College congratulated Dr. Obendangla, noting that her participation on an international academic platform “brings laurels to the institution and inspires both faculty and students to pursue global scholarship rooted in regional histories.”
Dr. Obendangla hails from Ungma village, Mokokchung.
