Opposition NPF has once again trained its gun on the PDA government accusing the latter being “rudderless and paralyzed”, adding that the state seems most likely to be in an emergency state of situation.
It therefore demanded that the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues resign on moral grounds claiming that rampant mis-governance had been taking place.
NPF through its press bureau said the PDA government failed in all fronts of developmental activities and also miserably failed to exercise in handling law and order situation.
NPF said the tall promises of good roads to the people seemed to have reversed as the road conditions, particularly the Kohima and Dimapur highway, have not only worsened but in a very hazardous condition.
It pointed out about the letter written by the leader of NPF legislature party to the chief minister and also to the managing director NHIDCL appealing both to look into the matter of maintaining the existing road. However, NPF said the appeal fell on deaf ears and now the High Court had taken up a sou moto case against the delay of work and poor condition of the road.
NPF questioned as to what was the role of the state government if it was s not to give good governance to the people of the State?
It said the court having to take up sou moto cases, when there is a government installed in the State, was a case of deep anguish and most pitiable. What is state government’s excuse to this?
While appreciating the High Court for taking up sou moto case on the 4-lane construction between Kohima-Dimapur, NPF said the court giving the “direction to directionless PDA government” was a matter of major embarrassment that the state of affairs has come to this point where court has to intervene.
NPF alleged that state government “has little or no interest in projects where commission for the CM or ministers is unavailable.”
It further said that the PDA government was paying less heed to the ongoing road projects which were brought about and initiated under strict specifications and time frame, adding it has brought misery and hardships to the people of the state and has led to negative impact.
For reasons best known to the government, NPF alleged that the ministers and advisors incharge, starting from the CMO were in a “hurry collecting huge ‘percentage’ from contractors and their concern department” wherever normal flow of Central schemes were available.
Adding to the sorry state of affairs under the PDA, NPF said the unceasing release of additional funds in the name of improvement of roads and other reasons which only benefit a select few people having close affinity to the CM or ministers will sooner than later bring about an emergency like situation in the economic state and the state exchequer.
Therefore, NPF recommended that the Governor or the High Court also take up sou moto cases in this regard and save Nagaland from being plundered further.
NPF said the state Lokayukta may also take up the mantle of investigating and not just be an agent of the government and enjoy the perks for being a mute spectator to the rampant corruption taking place.
Further, NPF said that the only airport in Dimapur was now taken over by the IAF and the state chopper service, was halted for days without any intimation to the commuters. The State government paid little or no attention to this issue and watched helplessly, it added.
It went on to hit out at the government saying it was more or less inactive and in deep slumber to the things happening in the State regarding the law and order situation as the Governor was now taking up the mantle of governing and taking care of law and order situations in the State.
NPF said it was also aware that many important centrally sponsored road projects were being implemented below specifications, but the bills cleared owing to political pressure.
The opposition party has therefore urged the Governor or the High Court to take remedial steps before the state deficit is driven down to a situation where there would be nothing much to be done to help it.
