PDA marks 3 years in office

As the ruling PDA completed three years in office on Monday, coalition partners BJP and NDPP congratulated the government and greeted each other on the occasion, besides acknowledging the support of the church, civil society organisations (CSOs), NGOs, tribal hohos, etc.

Congratulating the government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio and deputy  Y Patton, BJP State president Temjen Imna Along in a statement admitted that the journey was challenging, but said the legislators of NDPP, BJP and the lone Independent delivered the good to the people. He claimed that the government did not shy away from its responsibilities entrusted by the people through their precious mandate.

He acknowledged that the last three years saw Nagaland and its people in challenging situations like the excessive rains that wreaked havoc in 2018 and the global COVID-19 pandemic which brought the world to its knees. Throughout these tumultuous times, he claimed the PDA government remained grounded and committed to Common Minimum Programme and focused on the emergencies at hand.

Appreciating the rank and file of NDPP led by its president Chingwang Konyak, Independent legislator Tongpang Ozukum and the rank and file of BJP State unit, Along also acknowledged the opposition NPF led by TR Zeliang for joining hands with the government in reaching out to the people, cutting across party lines, when the pandemic was at its raging height.

Along also acknowledged the church, NGOs, CSOs, tribal hohos, etc, for working tirelessly in various capacities towards a final solution to the protracted Naga political issue, besides the Naga political groups engaged in the peace process with the Government of India under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a peaceful resolution that would be inclusive and honourable to all sections of Naga society.

He assured that BJP Nagaland unit would continue to work tirelessly in fulfilling the government’s and the party’s commitments to the people.

He gave a clarion call to everyone to reap benefits of the BJP-led NDA government’s mantra “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” (together with all, development for all, trust of all) so that Nagaland and its people could scale greater heights in all parameters of good governance and development of livelihood assets in the days ahead.

NDPP: Meanwhile, NDPP in a separate statement praised God Almighty for having guided and blessed the PDA government thus far, besides expressing its gratitude to various tribal hohos, CSOs, NGOs and citizens of Nagaland for their immense support without which, the party contended, the government would not have managed to run the affairs of the State smoothly last three years.

The party also extend its profound gratitude to alliance partners BJP and the Independent MLA for their unwavering support in taking forward the visions and commitments of the PDA government.

Stating that it was its firm belief that this partnership would only grow from strength to strength and continue to carry forward the dreams and aspirations of the people, NDPP also commended and lauded the PDA government under the leadership of Rio for having steered the State despite the many difficulties involved, especially during the heights of COVID-19 pandemic.

“We also acknowledge the wisdom of the PDA in avoiding celebratory events and programmes in view of the pandemic and as a gesture of genuine concern and to support the austerity drive of the State government,” it added.

NDPP extended its fullest support to the PDA in carrying forward the future policies and programmes of the government with the hope and belief that the visions and commitments of the alliance would continue beyond the present tenure.

The party said it stood firm in its commitment to provide development and progress to the people in consonance with its slogan “development for all; together with all!”
