PDCA & Assam Rifles launch Inter-Club Cricket tournament in Jalukie

DIMAPUR, SEP 14 (NPN): The Peren District Inter-Club Cricket Tournament 2026 officially kicked off at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) ground, Jalukie Town, on Monday. The event is being organized by the Peren District Cricket Association (PDCA) in collaboration with the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of the Nagaland Cricket Association.
Returning after a three-year gap, the tournament features five teams from across the district. With seven matches scheduled in the 50-overs format, the competition will culminate in a grand final on September 19, where the top two teams from the group stage will battle for the title.
The tournament began with a rain-curtailed 20-over contest where Daring Ninth CC defeated DLB XI by six wickets. Chasing a target of 169/8, Daring Ninth CC rode on Dipankar Das’s explosive 49 off 20 balls, while Iakaho Sumi’s 3/22 ensured a comfortable victory.
The opening ceremony was graced by president of PDCA Kengim Hegui; Commanding Officer of Assam Rifles, Col Mohit Kumar Bansal; Major Anupam Mishra; Major Abhishek Sharma, alongside local representatives, cricket enthusiasts and Assam Rifles personnel.
Speaking at the event, PDCA president Kengim Hegui encouraged the district’s youth and supporters to attend the matches, stressing that cricket offers a genuine career path for Naga players. He highlighted that the BCCI-affiliated Nagaland Cricket Association has already produced several players who have gone on to represent the state.
