PDGBA opposes change of GB nomenclature

Expressing opposition to the proposal to change the nomenclature of GB in urban areas in the state, the Peren District GB Association (PDGBA) has said that the state government’s proposal “does not seem to hold merit and any water”.

In a memorandum submitted to the governor through deputy commissioner Peren, the PDGBA president Kainia, vice president Irangduang, advisor Kiesenlak and secretary Hingtung Chawang, stated that the proposal would rather “ramify and complicate the hollowed institutions of GB and its functioning both legally and morally.”

PDGBA said that the Naga customs and traditions neither contradict nor bifurcate rural and urban settlement.

The association has, therefore, urged the governor to uphold the title and name “goan burah” both in the village and town or rural and urban.
