PDMGDVA to impose ‘no reply, no work’

Phek District Maytas-Gayatri Damaged Victim Association (PDMGDVA) Monday resolved to resume the second phase of agitation from October 6 by imposing “no reply, no work”, in the event of the failure of the union of India to file its affidavit-in-opposition before the high court even at the last hour of October 5 on which date the matter was being listed.

PDMGDVA convener Pushovoyi Nyekha and general secretary Kuvesa Medeo stated that the decision was taken at the meeting of the association held on Monday.

The association announced that in the first stage of the current agitation for 15 days (October 6-21), no working company/contractor on both Chakhabama-Zunheboto (under Phek District) and Pfutsero-Phek 2 lane roads would be allowed to undertake any work unless pending reply was filed.

The association cautioned that it would intensify its agitation as deemed fit after the expiry of 15-day agitation and if union of India continued to ignore their protest.

For convenience and normal activity of general public, the association has reconsidered imposition of indefinite road blockade.

However, the current agitation would not affect any vehicular movement on the two highways but would only restrain working company/contractors from carrying out their activity on the roads, PDMGDVA stated.

Earlier, the association said that it submitted a memorandum to secretary MORTH on August 16 through the state chief secretary who forwarded the letter on August 21 with a request “to kindly issue necessary directives to file the same before September 15 in order to avoid any untoward situation that may arise as the association has resolved to impose indefinite road blockade…”.

The association claimed that the union of India failed again on September 15 when the matter came up before the court and further sought another three weeks’ time which would expire on October 5.

Noting that as respondent 1 to the PIL, filing affidavit-in-opposition was mandatory and cannot be averted or overlooked, PDMGDVA asked why union of India was delaying the court process and denying justice to the poor victims?

It stated that union of India must file reply and leave the matter to the court to decide what was right.

PDMGDVA further stated that with the intervention of state government through DC Phek it had temporarily suspended the first phase of agitation, with a condition that state government would exert pressure to union of India to file its reply in the court on or before October 5.

The association therefore cautioned that in the event of any fallout with the agitation, the union of India would be held fully responsible.
