PDNCSU backs CCPO; seeks urgent road repairs

DIMAPUR

Phek District Nagaland Contractors’ and Suppliers’ Union (PDNCSU) has extended strong support to the ultimatum issued by the Centre Chakhesang Public Organisation (CCPO) to the Deputy Commissioner, Phek, demanding immediate action against KKB Company for its alleged negligence in maintaining the Pfutsero–Phek 2-lane road via EAC Sakraba Headquarters.
In a statement, PDNCSU president, Kuzhoseyi Alex Soho and general secretary, Medovelo Sono, asserted that the company’s failure to attend to repair and maintenance since the road’s completion reflects a disregard for professional responsibility. The union described the company’s conduct during the mandated five-year maintenance period as “arrogant” and demanded that the administering authority take prompt and necessary action.
PDNCSU warned that KKB Company must be held accountable should any untoward incidents occur due to the deteriorating road condition. It highlighted the severe impact on public life, particularly during emergencies and late-night travel when landslides have blocked access, causing untold hardship to commuters.
The union appealed to both the concerned authority and KKB Company to restore the road infrastructure without delay, stating that such action was vital for the safety and welfare of the community.
The union also appealed to Shivalaya Company to station its equipment and workforce round-the-clock along the landslide-prone Chakhabama–Zunheboto 2-lane road, particularly between Thenyizumi village and Sidzu river, to ensure safe passage for commuters, including those transporting patients and deceased persons to native villages.
PDNCSU urged Ratna Company to expedite construction work along the Kohima–Jessami 2-lane road, especially the Chakhabama–Kikrüma stretch, citing slow progress and public inconvenience. The union reiterated its directive to all implementing firms in the district to uphold quality workmanship, use standard materials, and deploy adequate manpower and machinery in vulnerable areas. It also called upon the PWD (R&B) department to initiate maintenance across all roads under its jurisdiction, many of which have been severely affected by heavy monsoon rains.
