PDVCO flays PHE Peren claims on JJM scheme

Peren District Voluntary Consumer’s Organization (PDVCO) has rejected the report provided by PHED on implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme in Peren district as “blatant lie”.

In a rejoinder, PDVCO media cell pointed out that despite “hefty amount of funds” allocated for the project and time bound for completion, the department has not even completed “quarter marks” in its projects.

PDVCO alleged that as per the information out of the 85 villages, the department claimed that works have been completed in 18 villages and completion certificate have been obtained while works in the remaining villages were progressing rapidly, which it termed as a blatant lie and will be revealed in the public domain.
The organization also said that it has “found something fishy” after 16 villages were exempted from villages from JJM beneficiaries village.

PDVCO also dismissed the undertaking through Executive Engineer (EE) that the work will be completed by December 2023, and termed it as “uncanny and misrepresenting” as the document signed has no official letter head nor official seal of the Executive Engineer.

Therefore, PDVCO challenged the “manipulative and delay tactics” of the department and demanded white paper and placed its progressive mission before the organization instead of “antagonizing and vilifying the RTI applicant”.

PDVCO said that it was now committed to bringing justice to its citizens as a responsible organization and called for spot verification with the department along with media reporter in those villages they claimed that the mission was completed and further progressing,
Meanwhile, PDVCO said that it held a meeting on September 14, a day after meeting with the department of PHED Peren district at Jalukie town.

In the meeting, PDVCO said it apprised the department to adhere to the guidelines laid down by the ministry of Jal Shakti while implementing JJM scheme and complete the construction work within the stipulated period.
PDVCO also said it resolved to consider its press statement which was published on August 31, 2023 as null and void and recourse its decision to fully pressed the issue as it found merit.

PDVCO said that as per the information furnished, the scheme had been progressing impressively but to their utter dismay and after deliberately scrutinizing the documents and collecting information through spot verification, the report was found to be misleading and “mischievous attempts to portray the department as responsibly performing the assigned duties” where as in reality the information revealed various anomalies and irregularities in funding.
