
Nagaland RN Ravi Wednesday called upon the people to accept peace as a core element for prosperity in the region.
Addressing the “Peace and Unity day” celebration, organised by Eastern Nagaland Public Organisation, at public ground Tuensang under the theme “unity for peace, peace for unity”, Ravi said “violence cannot bring any positive change or development to the society as it will only hamper the growth.”
And for a society to progress, Ravi stressed on the need to have proper health facilities, quality education, better connectivity and improved human development in the region.
The Governor also greeted the people of Tuensang on the occasion and called upon the gathering to strive for peace and development.
Khiamniungan Tribal Council president, L. Ngon spoke on behalf of six tribal bodies of the region, while ENSF president Sepili L Sangtam spoke on behalf of the students’ fraternity. Health and Family Welfare minister, S. PangnyuPhom; advisor for Prisons and Printing & Stationery, H Haying; advisor for IPR, SCERT and VG, Toshi Wungtung and & chairman ENLU also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, the ‘Peace and Unity’ monolith was unveiled by the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization president, Kekongchim.
Governor Ravi, who was in Tuensang on his maiden visit, arrived on Tuesday.
