Peace Channel Kma conducts trg for youth leaders

Peace Channel Kohima conducted a training on conflict resolution, peace-building, life skill and mediation” for youth leaders under the theme “together for peace: respect, safety and dignity for all” on September 16 at Oriental College Kohima.
In the training, Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) president, Vilanuo Yhome, as resource person, stressed on the conflicts that each individual encounter daily within oneself.
Speaking on the importance of culture and traditions, she said that Nagas are losing the real values of their culture, tradition and language because they are engrossed with the western ideas. Yhome called upon the youth to preserve their identity by making a new innovation and asked them to stand on one’s own feet and make a difference because peace would not come from external forces but from within. 
Speaking on the theme, Kohima district coordinator Peace Channel, Sedekieno Rino, asserted the need to come together as one by respecting each other, to have concern for everyone’s safety and live a dignified life, which would bring peace in the society.  Stressing on the present situation of the state where most were individualistic, she said that people were losing the sense that they belong to each other. 
Rino challeged the participants to make a firm decision by taking one step each in their everyday life in a journey towards peace and be the change they want to see in the world. The programme was chaired by assistant professor Oriental College Kohima, Tumben Ngullie, invocation was pronounced by Vimeyieno Bio, welcome address by vice principal Oriental College Gopal Chetri, special number by Peace Club Oriental College and vote of thanks by Petekhrienuo Rame.
