
Commemorating the 125 birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar, around 250 students from at T.M government higher secondary school (TMGHSS) Kohima participated in the peace walk rally on March 31.
The rally flagged-off by the chief guest of the occasion, SDB former Prof. HOD English NU Rev. Fr and Dr. A.J. Sebastian at TMGHSS and culminated at Khouchiezie (local ground).
Speaking at the programme, the chief guest said, “we have many tribes in Nagaland, we should not fight among ourselves, instead we should together build peace in our land”. He urged the participants to encourage one another in maintaining better relationship by keeping away tribalism in order to create a better place to live in.
Delivering a keynote address, ZD, Nehru yuva kendra sagathan ( NYKS) Jackie Ruivah said the commemoration was meant to facilitate the people in general and youths in particular to come together and live together, generate caste free society, fight against social evils and foster the feeling of brotherhood and national unity. He further informed that NYKS has been entrusted with the responsibility to commemorate 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar in 105 districts across the country with financial support by the Dr. Ambedkar foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, government of India.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by DYC, NYKS Kohima, John Makhabo and principal of TMGHSS exhorted the participants.
